INTERN WITH US
Southern Lit Alliance offers semester-long internships for college students that encourage knowledge and experience in nonprofit management, development, and programming. Our interns leave with a comprehensive grasp of the expansive operations that are integral to nonprofits and community initiatives.
As a So Lit intern, you will gain valuable experience, insight, and knowledge about marketing, event planning, program development, and general nonprofit management. Our internships involve so much more than fetching coffee and filing papers (though there’s a little bit of that too). Below, you'll find a description of our Communications internship.
As a Communications Intern, you'll learn how to craft the public face of an organization. Expect the challenges of drafting copy for multi-platform marketing such as press releases, blogs, social media, print materials, and e-newsletters. Write reviews on the latest literature on the marketer our blog. Learn how to build community-wide events and high-impact public programs from the ground up, recruiting and managing volunteers, and coordinating the event on-site. This hands-on experience will equip you with countless tools to begin your career.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Creatively-inclined with an enthusiasm for community events and programs
Interest in the arts, specifically literature, a plus
